We offer couples with different religious backgrounds and other beliefs, to become married without the complications of traditional marriages. Many couples choose to become married with us and then do a religious ceremony at a future time.
THE FIVE EASY STEPS!
STEP ONE:
Applying For A Hawaii Marriage License
Apply for your marriage license through the State of Hawaii website.
WEBSITE: EMRS.EHAWAII.GOV
The current application fee is $65.00.
You must register 30 days in advance of the wedding ceremony date.
Each island in Hawaii; Oahu, Maui, Island of Hawaii and Kauai, are their own independent county. Oahu County, Maui County, etc.
The Hawaii Marriage Application Number is NOT the Hawaii Marriage License Number. We'll walk you through each of these steps!
Hawaii does not require United States citizenship and/or a blood test to apply for a license, which makes it easy for couples coming from another country to get married in the islands. You can start the process by filling out the application for a marriage license online.
WEDDING APPLICATION WEBSITE: EMRS.EHAWAII.GOV
STEP TWO:
Meet With A State Of Hawaii Agent - Immediately after you recieve your Marriage License Receipt you need to make an appointment with a State of Hawaii Agent.
Once we recieve a copy of your Wedding Application receipt, we will provide your with an agent name, office location and phone number.
This is usually a 20 minute meeting.
You should bring with you all of your legal paperwork: driver's licenses, state identifications and birth certificates. It's better to have more legal documents than not enough!
Both spouses MUST attend this in-person meeting.
This meeting must occur within 30 days of the ceremony.
If you were previously married, or your spouse has passed, you will need a copy of the divorce(s) and/or death certificate(s).
After the meeting the State of Hawaii agent with provide you with a Marriage License Worksheet.
YOU MUST BRING THE MARRIAGE LICENSE WORKSHEET TO THE CEREMONY!
Note: It's always a good idea to take a photo of the worksheet with your phone and/or camera.
At the end of the ceremony the officiant will sign and make a copy of the document. The officiant uses the information on the worksheet to finalize the wedding with the State of Hawaii.
You have 30 days from the date of filing to have the marriage ceremony.
STEP THREE:
Wedding Officiant
This is where we come into the picture! We are legally licensed by the State of Hawaii to perform wedding ceremonies. Even if you do not select us as your wedding officiant, you need to find an officiant within 30 days of your application.
We can discuss all the details during our phone conversation.
It's always a good idea to speak to a few officiants to get an idea what each has to offer.
Wedding Vows - We have a standard wedding vow that we initially send to you by email. During the first draft you may add or modify the wording to suit your needs.
Once you decide on the wording of your wedding vows we will email a copy for your final approval.
The one thing you do not want on your wedding day are surprises! We feel it's better to create, edit and finalize your wedding vows before the wedding.
STEP FOUR:
Your Wedding Day!
This is the time to celebrate your vows to each other. A solelem yet joyous and happy occasion that you will remember for the rest of your lives!
